SI 02305: Redeterminations of Eligibility and/or Payment Amount

A. Policy
T30/T33 Start Date cases when an ineligible spouse becomes eligible require an unscheduled RZ. Interviewers are only required to ask 13 questions on the SSA-8203-BK (Statement for Determining Continuing Eligibility for Supplemental Security Income Payments) if the interview is documented on paper. MSSICS may be used for these RZs, but there is no abridged path. The questions asked during an abridged RZ for these cases focus on the documentation required for the RZ period of review. All of the questions begin with “Since the date above.”
B. Procedure
Complete the following questions on the SSA-8203-BK in cases where an ineligible spouse becomes eligible and develop per the appropriate POMS instructions:

NOTE: It is not necessary to cross out the questions that do not have to be asked except Question 23 if the criteria outlined in SI 01730.045E. applies. Question 23 elicits information about changes in third party liability. All other RZ instructions (including systems procedures in POMS) remain unchanged.
