- GN 02406.030 Nonreceipt When Beneficiary Authorized Transfer of Funds -- Policy
Like any other consumer, a beneficiary may authorize the automatic debiting of his/her checking or savings account for a wide variety of reasons. Many individuals authorize utility companies, television cable service providers, mortgage companies, etc. to electronically debit their account as a convenient means of paying monthly bills. If a beneficiary reports a problem with any sort of automatic debit or bill payer arrangement, SSA should restrict its action to verifying that the monthly benefit was correctly deposited in the designated checking or savings account. Problems with any subsequent funds transfer arrangement are the responsibility of the beneficiary and his/her FI.
