600. GENERAL
The surviving (a) or (b) of a fully insured person may receive monthly benefits at age 62. To qualify for these benefits, the (a) or (b) must have been receiving at least one-half of (a) or (b) support from the insured person.

605. AMOUNT OF BENEFIT—NO FAMILY MAXIMUM INVOLVED
The monthly benefit payable to one parent is 82.5 percent of the insured person's monthly benefit amount. However, if there are two parents entitled to benefits, each parent will receive 75 percent.
605.1 SOLE SURVIVOR
If the parent is the only surviving beneficiary, the minimum monthly benefit will be $ .
615. TIMELY FILING OF PROOF OF SUPPORT—DEATH
A parent's proof of support must be filed within 2 years after the death of the insured person. The time limit may be extended only if there is good cause for failure to file the proof within the initial 2-year period.
620. ENTITLED ON OWN EARNINGS RECORD
A parent cannot qualify for monthly benefits on a (a), (b), or (c) social security record if he is entitled to an equal or larger benefit based on his own earnings record.

625. DEFINITION OF ONE-HALF SUPPORT
The one-half support requirement is met only when the worker was contributing at least as much towards the parent's support as the parent was receiving from all other sources. The expenses of food, shelter, clothing, medicine, and medical services are all included in the definition of support.
