NL: Notices, Letters and Paragraphs
TN 4 (05-95)
A. Introduction
On rare occasions, instructions may not provide a notice that exactly fits a unique or complex case situation. See the guidelines in NL 00603.020B below for preparing a notice in these rare situations.
B. Procedure
1. Selecting notice content
Use independent judgment to decide what information must be included in notices not covered by these instructions, provided such decisions are consistent with notice standards outlined in this subchapter.
When composing notices, use appropriate approved language from stock paragraphs, exhibit letters, or model letters. If information particularly tailored to a claimant's circumstances is needed, but is not provided by stock language, follow the style of similar approved language.
NOTE: Phrases used in stock language are generally required by law and are not discretionary.
2. Requests for assistance
a. DDS/FO
Contact the Assistant Regional Commissioner (ARC)-Program Operations and Systems for assistance on any issue. If an issue occurs with some regularity, submit a written request to the ARC-Program outlining the issue, the problem it is causing, and the solution the DDS/FO believes to be best.
b. PSC
Contact the Office of Public Service and Operations Support (OPSOS).
c. ODIO
Contact OPSOS for assistance.
NOTE: Requests for assistance should be made through normal office channels.
