A. Introduction

With the enactment of P.L. 99-643, certain procedures (including the trial work period and the extended period of eligibility) and substantial gainful activity (SGA)  cessations were eliminated for SSI effective July 1, 1987. Since those procedures apply only to periods beyond administrative finality, they have limited use. Therefore, they have been removed from this subchapter.

For information about procedures which apply for periods prior to July 1987, contact your regional office which will contact the Office of Supplemental Security Income as needed.
