Overview

Changes in recipients’ circumstances can affect their eligibility and payment amounts. This subchapter provides instructions on:

  • Recipients’ responsibilities for reporting changes that may affect SSI benefits,

  • Field office responsibilities for acting on reports or change and correcting benefits,

  • Assessing and collecting penalties for recipients’ failures to report changes on time which adversely affect their SSI,

  • Reducing, suspending and terminating SSI benefits,

  • Reinstating SSI benefits,

  • Providing Goldberg/Kelly (GK) due process protections before reducing, suspending or terminating SSI benefits.
