Always consider diary control for initial claims and appeals with WC/PDB involvement. The diary code is 042.

A. When to use diary code 042

• WC/PDB is involved but payments are not being made.

• An appeal on the WC/PDB claim has been filed and pending a decision.

B. MCS systems generated diaries

MCS will establish a Diary Code 042 based on entries on the WPCL screen. Diary code 042 is generated when:

• INTEND-TO-FILE equals Y or

• WC/PDB CLAIM PENDING equals Y or

• CLAIM DENIED equals Y and APPEAL PENDING equals Y or

• PERIODIC PAYMENTS AWARDED equals Y and “APPEAL PENDING equals Y or

• LUMP SUM AWARDED equals Y and APPEAL PENDING equals Y
