DI 28040: Medical Improvement Not Expected (MINE) or Medical Improvement Not Expected - Equivalent (MINE - Equivalent) Cases

BASIC (10-01)

Since MINE or MINE-Equivalent impairments are not expected to improve, the main purpose of the third party contact is to verify the continued severity of the impairment(s) as alleged by the individual/payee.

A current medical source must be called for this verification when possible. However, other third party contacts can be made (see DI 28040.125 ) if there is no medical source and certain conditions are met.
