RS 01301: Living With, Contributions and One-Half Support
TN 7 (01-12)
A. Procedure for child dependency cases
Use judgment in interpreting how these sections apply to child's benefits. For example, the child claimant will probably not have as many sources of income as an adult is likely to have. Refer to pertinent sections in GN 00306.000 dealing with specific child types when developing these cases.
B. Point at which one-half support must be met
A stepchild must meet the one-half support requirement on or before a specified dependency point. (As indicated in RS 01301.020B.1, we look at a reasonable period before that point to determine whether the stepchild meets the one-half support requirement.) See RS 01301.010B for definitions of "support" and "one-half support."
