GN 03312: Disclosure for Law Enforcement Purposes

In exceptional cases involving law enforcement activities in which a disclosure is not allowed under SSA’s disclosure regulations (20 C.F.R. § 401.195), the Commissioner of Social Security or a designee may approve, on a case-by-case basis, disclosure of non-tax return information under the ad hoc disclosure provisions of the regulation. A request must meet the requirements discussed in GN 03316.140.
