GN 01715: Agreement With Canada

A. Introduction
Many claims filed under the Canadian agreement in the United States are filed in field offices (FO’s) with service areas near the Canadian border or with a substantial Canadian population. To provide quicker service, these offices (referred to as “designated border offices”) perform some of the claims-related liaison functions with Canadian agencies that would normally be handled by the Office of International Operations (OIO).
B. Policy
Designated border offices process claims filed under the agreement in accordance with GN 01715.325 – GN 01715.335. All other FO’s should follow the usual procedures in GN 01702.000.
