Procedure

1. Claims inquiry

1. Request the U.S. Embassy in Seoul to:

   • Obtain the completed applications and related forms, asking that the claimant complete these in the Embassy so that his/her identity can be verified and the relationship to the NH confirmed; and

   • Secure the necessary evidence, explaining what evidence is needed.

2. Furnish the Embassy with all the available identifying data from SSA records which could be useful in conducting the interview. This includes such thing as:

   • The NH's and claimant's dates and places of birth;

   • Marital status;

   • Parents' names;

   • Address at the time the SS-5 was filed, if known; and

   • Places of employment.

3. Attach the needed applications and related forms to the development request.

2. Subsequent development

After the application has been completed and identity established, undertake subsequent development by writing directly to the claimant whenever possible.
