Probative value of physician's or midwife's statement

The following table shows the probative value of a signed statement by the physician or mid-wife in attendance when the person was born.

IF the statement is... THEN the statement...

Based on the physician's or midwife's records

Has high probative value

  • Based entirely on memory, and

  • Prepare in accordance with GN 00302.585

  • Is acceptable as other evidence of probative value, and>

  • Would be evaluated in the same manner as a similar statement from another person.
