A. Appeals (Paper)
If an appeal is pending on a paper application, the artifact can be stored in the Non-Disability Repository. This will ensure that the artifact is preserved in the appropriate claim filing. The artifact must then be sent to the appropriate appeal office to associate with the pending appeal. This will ensure that the artifact is exhibited properly.
B. Processing Center Action Required
If an action requires Processing Center action to clear, the item should be placed in the Non-Disability Repository or the eDIB claim filing record. The item should also be faxed into the Paperless Processing System using existing procedures.
NOTE: No documents should be faxed or sent to the Processing Centers “to be filed”. The document, must be faxed into the Non-Disability Repository or the eDIB claim filing record.
C. Residual Trailer Medical Information
At times, Field Offices may receive residual trailer medical information from the DDS. This material (if received) should be sent by mail to associate with the current paper folder. If an electronic file exists, the material should be returned to the DDS for processing. (See DI 22520.001 through DI 22520.010 and DI 81020.140)
