GN 04440: Federal Quality Review of Disability Determinations

A. POLICY-CORRECTIVE ACTION

Send group I decisional deficiencies involving onset to the adjudicating component for corrective action.

B. PROCEDURE-REVIEW COMPONENT

  1. Prepare an SSA-1774-U5 and return the case to the adjudicating component.

    Ask them to:

    • Prepare the denial; and

    • Return the case to the review component.

  2. Send a copy of the return to the regional CD or follow established regional procedures if CD does not wish to receive copies of all deficiency returns.

    NOTE: If the FO has jurisdiction per DI 11010.340, return the case to the FO and ask them to prepare the denial and release the case. Notify the adjudicating component of the corrective action if the FO has jurisdiction.
