A. General

Sometimes the name on a document submitted as proof-of-age differs materially from that on the application. The development required when such a discrepancy exists depends upon whether it is a major or a minor difference.

B. Definition

As used in GN 00302.460 and GN 00302.470, the surname  is the family name or, generally, the last name (i.e., the name which distinguishes memebers of one family from members of another).

The given name is all, or any part, of the name except the surname.
