Upon receipt of the case folder, the Disability Processing Branch (DPB) and DDS will:

1. Review the file to assure full development of the MINE or MINE-equivalent impairment(s).

2. Telephone the beneficiary and representative payee, inform him or her of the legislated review requirement, and initiate completion of the SSA-454-BK (Continuing Disability Review Report).

3. Send a confirmation review notice documenting the initiation of the MINE or MINE-equivalent continuing disability review (CDR) process.

4. Send an SSA-827 to the individual for a signature and date, along with an SSA-454-BK to complete if it was not complete during the initial telephone contact.

5. When appropriate, process a continuance based on the above.

If, there is a need for FO assistance, the DDS may use the form SSA-883-U3 (Request of Evidence Assist Disability) or send an electronic assistance request (AR) in an electronic CDR (eCDR).
