DI 11055: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Disability Cases

When the field office (FO) establishes all claims for a case in the Electronic Disability Collect System (EDCS), the official folder is a Certified Electronic Folder (CEF).

If one claim in a case is an exclusion to EDCS, the official folder is paper.

The following section contains FO procedure for preparing to transmit disability claims that are Modernized Supplementary Security Income Control System (MSSICS) exclusions or limitations (DI 81010.030).

Use of the SSA-831 (Disability Determination and Transmittal) for claims that are CEF exclusions

For claims that cannot be processed in EDCS, use the SSA-831 to transmit the claim to the DDS, complete Sections 1-14 on the SSA-831, see DI 11010.205, Completing the SSA-831. Place in the front section of the Modular Disability Folder (MDF).
